John H. Martinez-D. ( NHCA Board Chairman - john@builtbylatinos.org)

John H. Martinez-D. is a native Dallasite who has worked in community and minority  business development since 1990.  John and his wife, Maria Montoya, and their family live near his alma mater, Southern Methodist University.

John’s career has focused on the development of entrepreneurs and managing membership organizations such as the Dallas Fort Worth Minority Business Development Council and the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  While at the Chamber John was responsible for beginning and funding the Chamber’s first branch office in Oak Cliff.  Before leaving in 2005, John once again initiated and funded another branch office in West Dallas, making the GDHCC the only Hispanic chamber of commerce to have three fully functioning offices in the same City.

Currently John serves as the President of the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association located in the heart of the Southern Sector in Oak Cliff.

During his tenure the organization has experienced unprecedented growth and achievement.  RHCA membership has grown from 42 members to over 1300 members strong.   The number of corporate partners that support and sustain the organization has grown to its highest number in the history of the organization.

The RHCA completed the purchase of its over 11,000 square foot facility.  The RHCA was able to purchase a site valued at almost a million dollars through its partnership with the City of Dallas.  The simple, but innovative purchasing structure had never been asked or done in the history of the City of Dallas.

The new headquarters and Contractor Business Center is in the heart of the Southern Sector in Oak Cliff.  In addition to housing the association’s corporate office, the facility also serves as the new national prototype for a Contractors Business Center that is open to all small and emerging contractors and sub-contractors.      The CBC serves as a one-stop shop to assist contractors with accessing, completing, submitting and winning construction related bids and contracts.  The focus of the CBC is on construction procurement, construction safety, and “green and LEED” building.
